Health Insurance – What’s Soon to Come

Regina Jacobsen, October 1, 2022October 1, 2022

The Texas health insurance market is a tumultuous one. Family health premiums in Texas have increased by 91.6% since 2000. This is 4.6 times higher than the earnings of insurance suppliers in Texas. This is causing many companies such as Unicare to leave the Texas health insurance market. In addition out of 50 states, Texas rates 39th when it comes to health. When it comes to cancer deaths, immunization coverage and poor mental health days, the Lone Star state rates 16, 17, and 19 respectively. In addition Texas rates 41 in geographical disparity, 42 in primary care physicians, and 43 in public health care funding and children in poverty. Despite all this, Texas rates 50 when it comes to health insurance.mental health billing services

Many health insurance companies are leaving the Texas market. As previously stated, family health premiums in Texas have increased by 91.6% since 2000. This is 4.6 times higher than what insurance suppliers in Texas make. Increased spending on healthcare, lack of regulation on the insurance industry, and a “hidden health task” are to blame for this. Because the insurance market is changing in a way that does not benefit health insurance companies, many companies are leaving the Texas market. Instead of only competing with each other, health insurance companies in Texas now have to compete with governmental health care reform which has the advantage of setting payment schedules for doctors and hospitals.

In addition, there is a huge debate about the validity and fairness of the of the new healthcare reform bill. Not only do insurance companies have to compete with other companies, but they also have to complete with governmental reform which has an advantage of setting payment schedules for doctors and hospitals. Critics of the reform claim that the bill is taking a step towards socialism and promoting rationing. Despite all the criticism, health care reform is expected to help many. 6 million residents who are uninsured and 1.1 million who have nongrouped insurance could get coverage that is affordable. 3.3 million residents could qualify for premium tax credits to enable them to purchase coverage, and 2.8 million seniors would be the recipients of preventative services.
